Cookies and trackers
Cookie policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
This page explains the use of cookies and similar trackers on viromo.eu, in line with EU ePrivacy rules (Directive 2002/58/EC) and the GDPR consent standard (Art. 4(11) and Art. 7 GDPR).
Our approach. viromo.eu is deliberately minimal: no advertising cookies, no third-party tracking cookies, no profiling. Audience measurement is cookieless. That is why no consent banner appears: no tracker subject to consent is placed on your device.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a site, used to store or read information. The law distinguishes strictly necessary cookies (for the operation of the site or a service you request), which are exempt from consent, from non-essential cookies (non-exempt analytics, advertising, social media), which require your prior consent.
2. Trackers used
Here is the full inventory of what the site sets or uses:
| Tracker | Type / role | Duration | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Cookieless audience measurement: aggregated statistics (page views, country, device type). Stores nothing on your device and cannot identify you. | — | Not required (outside ePrivacy scope) |
viromo-lang | Functional cookie: set only if you choose English via the language switch, to remember that choice so you are not redirected automatically. | 1 year | Exempt (requested service) |
| Cloudflare cookies | Strictly necessary technical cookies that may be set by the host for security and bot protection. | Variable | Exempt (security) |
3. Local storage
Your choice, if any, on the site’s information banner is stored locally in your browser (local storage), not via a cookie. This information stays on your device and is not sent to the server.
4. Admin area
The /admin area (restricted to the publisher, behind authentication) may set technical login-related cookies. It does not concern visitors to the site.
5. Managing your choices
You stay in control of the trackers placed on your device:
- You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies, and clear the site’s local storage.
- Deleting the
viromo-langcookie re-enables automatic language redirection. - Should cookie-based analytics or any other tracker subject to consent ever be added, an “Accept all” / “Reject all” banner of equal ease would be put in place beforehand, in line with EU and CNIL guidance, with the ability to change your choice at any time.
6. Changes
This policy may change if the site’s operation changes. The last-updated date appears at the top of the page. For any question, write to jacob@viromo.eu.
